Facebook Copy Link to Clipboard Where Does in Go on Android

I am always explaining how to copy links for different channels so here is a wee blog with the instructions for Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram.

Why would you want to copy links? When you want to share a piece of content into a comment on a post, an email or a messaging app, maybe with one person or a group – could be your own content or a post you have seen online.

The Desktop Facebook method is so random! (And you would never guess how to do it, unless you Googled it….or just read on…)

On Desktop

Keyboard Shortcuts to note (PC) Cut = Ctrl+X Copy = Ctrl+C Paste = Ctrl+V

Facebook

  • Find the post you want to copy the link for. Look for the label on the post that shows when your post was published (this is located just under your name or business name on the post).
  • The text displays the time the content was published for example 2 minutes ago, 4 hours ago, or day, month and time. Click on this and you will go to a new screen view.
Location of the date/time stamp link to click
  • Next copy the URL address displayed in the address bar. Single click anywhere in the address to highlight it all.
  • If it doesn't highlight it all, a short-cut to do this is to triple-click anywhere in the URL address text – neat! (Clicking and dragging can easily do unwanted things to the URL!)
  • Copy the text – right click and choose the copy option or the keyboard shortcut.
  • Then go to the location where you want the link to your content to appear.
  • Now paste the link – you can use the right click and paste option or the keyboard shortcut.

LinkedIn

  • Find the post you want to copy the link for. On LinkedIn, you need to go to your profile, head to your profile image with 'Me' underneath and click on the down arrow then View profile.
  • Scroll down to the Activity Section and click See all on the top right (see diagram below).
  • Then choose either the Post area, Article area, or Documents area.
  • Click on the relevant piece of content and then click on the three dots for more options (located at the top right of the post). Choose the Copy link option or Copy link to article for an article.
  • Then go to the location where you want the link to your content to appear.
  • Now paste the link – you can use the right click and paste option or the keyboard shortcut.
The Activity Section is just above your Experience Section

Instagram

You can use Instagram on Desktop as well as the app, head to www.instagram.com and enter your email or username (handle) and password to log into your profile.

  • Make sure you click on your profile button to view your posts, this is located at the top right of your screen (your logo or profile image).
  • Choose the post you would like to copy the link for and click on it so it appears in a new window.
  • Then click on the three dots at the top right of the post and choose Copy link.
  • Then go to the location where you want the link to your content to appear.
  • Now paste the link – you can use the right click and paste option or the keyboard shortcut.

Mobile (Android)

Facebook

  • Find the post you want to copy the link for. Tap on the three dots at the top right of the post to bring up more options and choose Copy link.
  • Then go to the location where you want the link to your content to appear.
  • Now paste the link – hold down your finger in the text editing area (for example a comment on a post, an email or a messaging app) then tap on paste when it appears.
  • This option is much simpler than the Desktop method and the link is shorter/neater.

Instagram

  • Find the post you want to copy the link for. Make sure you select the post, and then tap on the three dots at the top right of post to bring up more options and choose Copy link.
  • Then go to the location where you want the link to your content to appear.
  • Now paste the link – hold down your finger in the text editing area then tap on paste when it appears.

LinkedIn

  • Find the post you want to copy the link for. On LinkedIn, you need to go to your profile, tap your profile image located in the top left of the app and choose View Profile.
  • Scroll down to the Activity Section, and tap SEE ALL ACTIVITY. Then choose either the Post area, Article area, or Documents area.
  • Click on the relevant piece of content and then click on the three dots for more options (located at the top right of the post). Choose the Copy link option.
  • Then go to the location where you want the link to your content to appear.
  • Now paste the link – hold down your finger in the text editing area then tap on paste when it appears.

I hope these instructions help you get ahold of your links! 🤗
